Top-rated restaurants & attractions to be discovered when booking your next medical appointment

SELANGOR, MALAYSIA, 18th January – BookDoc today announced its latest content partnership with the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor. BookDoc users are now able to search for top-rated restaurants and attractions around the vicinity of their healthcare appointments in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand when using either the BookDoc mobile app or website, making medical travel more enjoyable both locally and abroad.

“TripAdvisor enables travellers all over the world to unleash the potential whenever they are on-the-go. The platform offers advice from millions of travellers, as well as a wide variety of travel choices and planning features so travellers can plan and book the perfect trip. Its branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, reaching 390 million average monthly unique visitors and 435 million reviews and opinions covering 6.8 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.

The latest content partnership with TripAdvisor marks the latest enhancement to BookDoc’s integrated online ecosystem for local and overseas health travellers. The ecosystem allows users to search & book healthcare professionals (e.g. doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, etc.) anytime and anywhere, and integrates seamlessly with navigation (Google Map, Waze), transport (Grab, Uber and AirAsia) and accommodation (Agoda) for a hassle-free experience to healthcare appointments. This latest content enhancement with TripAdvisor augments the experience even further by providing users with Top 10 restaurants and attractions nearby, as recommended by independent user reviews.

“The global medical tourism market is estimated to be worth US$40-50bn, while the South East Asia market at US$3-5bn. These markets have been chalking up double-digit growths. In addition, the uneven depreciation of regional currencies against US dollars have rendered some of these destinations more attractive, and Malaysia is one of them.

BookDoc is particularly useful not only for medical tourists, but also for tourists in general. We are now in 4 markets, and with this latest tie-up, we hope to make it more convenient not only for the one going for healthcare appointment, but also for the accompanying family members or friends, especially in unfamiliar territories,” explains Dato’ Chevy Beh, CEO and Founder of BookDoc.

This development comes shortly after its recent launch of BookDoc Activ which rewards users for maintaining high level of activity. Embedded in its BookDoc App, this feature offers users discounts, from major retailers and service providers every month, for achieving average-daily-step thresholds, tiered according to Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. “BookDoc” App which is downloadable for free on Apple App Store (for iOS) and Google Play Store (for Android), and syncs seamlessly with tracking Apps – Apple Health, S Health and Google Fit; and wearables – Fitbit, Jawbone and Mi Band.
