Sun Life Malaysia has launched its sixth annual Blood Glucose Screening Programme, partnering once again with BookDoc alongside Health Lane Family Pharmacy, Roche Malaysia, and MOG Eyewear Malaysia to expand free diabetes screening to over 228 locations nationwide. This year’s programme screened 6,500 Malaysians, with 591 going the extra mile to join the health coaching programme.

Since its inception in 2019, the programme has screened over 35,000 Malaysians. Data from the 2024 edition found that nearly one-third of the 5,190 individuals screened had elevated blood glucose levels, with 84% of young adults aged 18–29 unaware of their risk — underscoring the need for continued youth-focused health education.

As part of the initiative, participants had access to a range of partner perks, including a free 3-month digital health coaching programme with BookDoc (valued at RM150), a free 6-in-1 Vision Experience assessment at MOG Eyewear Malaysia (worth RM350), and RM10 off the Accu-Chek® Guide Me Kit from Roche Malaysia.
BookDoc’s health coaching programme connects individuals with elevated blood glucose levels to qualified dietitians via in-app chat, alongside a step-tracking reward system to support sustainable lifestyle habits. Last year, 50% of participants saw improved or stable blood glucose levels, and 80% of overweight participants successfully reduced their weight.
“We are proud to once again partner with Sun Life Malaysia in this impactful initiative to combat diabetes through greater accessibility to screening and education,” said Reuben Poh, Director of BookDoc. “Through this continued collaboration, we aim to scale our impact and make preventive healthcare more engaging, accessible, and effective for communities nationwide.”
